Melelana Dance offers both group and private classes in Hula, Tahitian and Maori poi spinning. Private classes are available for adults and teens 14+ in our Silver Spring in-home studio or DC metro area venue of your choice (your home, community center, school). Virtual classes are also available on Zoom.

Gaithersburg, MD Group Hula classes (in person) for adult age 12+ are available through the City of Gaithersburg Department of Recreation. The next session will be Spring, 2026. Details regarding scheduling, location, pricing and registration can be made here.

Rockville, MD 55+ Group Hula classes (intermediate) for adults 55+ are available through Holiday Park Senior Center. The new session begins in Spring, 2026. Classes are 1pm-1:50pm. Contact Holiday Park Senior Center for details.

Wheaton, MD Group Ori Tahiti : New group classes are not yet scheduled. Contact me for details or to get on the mailing list for classes. Sessions are 50 minutes in length, held weekly for 6 weeks.

Pricing for Private Lessons:

  • Introduction to Hula series (8 sessions): $340 in studio
  • Introduction to Tahitian dance (6 sessions): $200 in studio
  • Continuing classes:
    • In-studio & virtual classes: $40 per session
    • Off-Site classes: $50+ per session (depending on mileage) subject to availability

Performance group classes for students who have completed Intro to Hula and Intro to Tahitian (or similar experience) are held in Wheaton, MD every Wednesday night from 6:30-8:30. Students may attend in person or via Zoom link. Students attending these classes will be expected to either perform in shows or participate (in some capacity) in group events such as: parades, special events, marketing events etc. Participation can be dancing, manning a marketing table, taking photographs/video, assisting with set-up/break-down etc. For more details, contact me directly.
